Bodily beauty in the mirror of Adyghe identity

Abstract. The subject of research of this article is the originality, authentic character, philosophy of bodily beauty in the traditional culture of the Circassians. Working on such a world-famous source as the Adyghe heroic epos “Narts”, the author traces the origins of the Adyghe people’s ideas about the aesthetics of female and male bodily perfection and draws parallels between ideas about the physical beauty of different peoples.
Keywords: bodily aesthetics , ethical and aesthetic judgments of the Circassians, the epos “Narts”, authenticity of Circassian philosophy, the meaning of ethnic identity.
