Abstract. For 20 years of field studies of meadows by scientists of the Tembotov Institute of Ecology of Mountain Territories, a lot of factual material has been accumulated on the distribution (locations) and ecology of various taxonomic groups of herbaceous plants in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. The paper presents data from field diaries and herbarium labels containing empirical information on morphology, species position in communities and specific localities for 176 species of the vast and taxonomically complex family Poaceae. Supplemented with illustrations, this information will contribute to more efficient field identification of cereals in the Central Caucasus.

Keywords: Poaceae, distribution, Kabardino-Balkar Republic.

Funding. The research was conducted within the framework of state assignment No. 075-00347-19-00 on the topic “Patterns of spatio-temporal dynamics of meadow and forest ecosystems in mountainous areas (Russian Western and Central Caucasus)”.
