Abstract. The growth and development patterns of fruit plants on the slopes of exhausted industrial quarries in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic were studied. A high adaptive potential to unfavorable climatic and edaphic factors (drought resistance, frost resistance, low soil fertility) of Hippophae rhamnoides L. and Rosa canina L. was established. The growth and development indicators of plants in the lower parts of the slopes are 1.5-5.0 times higher than in the upper parts. More favorable conditions for fruit plantings are formed on the slopes of northern and eastern exposures. It was proven that natural fruit plantings serve as an indicator of the suitability of fruit plants for specific soil mixtures in the biological development of slope lands.
