Abstract. Hypoxic therapy is poorly studied in urology. The study aimed to substantiate the use of interval normobaric hypoxic training to correct psychophysiological disorders in patients with chronic prostatitis. 36 men with chronic prostatitis were randomized into 3 groups: 1. Hypoxia-Normoxia (n=12): standard drug therapy + 10 sessions with 13 % O2. 2. Hypoxia-Hyperoxia (n=12): standard therapy + 10 sessions with 31 % O2. 3. Control (n=12): pharmacotherapy only. Asthenic symptoms were assessed using a questionnaire before and during sessions. The most significant positive dynamics were in the Hypoxia-Hyperoxia group: the number of complaints decreased 3 times, and their intensity more than doubled. The Hypoxia-Normoxia group showed less improvement: the number of complaints decreased less than 2 times, and their severity by 20 %. No significant dynamics were found in the control group. Interval hypoxic training, especially the “hypoxia-hyperoxia” scheme, is effective in reducing asthenic syndrome and can be recommended as an adjuvant therapy to improve patients’ quality of life. The method is promising for further research.
