Abstract. This paper examines the problem of adapting a sectoral agricultural production system to climate change. It involves transforming this system into an effectively functioning system with adaptive properties to climate change, the elements of which will be regional production systems. The goal of the sectoral system is formulated at a qualitative level: it should ensure the country’s food security in a changing external environment (natural, economic, social, environmental, political, etc.). Furthermore, it should be able to provide related economic sectors with raw materials and contribute to global food security. An algorithm for adapting the sectoral system to climate change is presented. It consists of two stages. The first stage involves decomposing the agricultural production system under consideration at the industry level, formulating the objectives for this stage, and solving these objectives. The second stage, using the results obtained in the first stage, adapts regional-level systems to climate change and synthesizes the industry-level system.
