Abstract. This article is dedicated to the contribution of Professor Kh.G. Tkhagapsoev to the development of cultural studies and its various branches (theoretical cultural studies, ethnic cultural studies, the cultural studies of the Caucasus, and ethnic gender studies). Particular emphasis is placed on his scholarly ideas that may be considered paradigmatic, specifically: the “Caucasian local civilization of the tectonic type”; “Nart epic as a space for dialogue between Caucasian cultures and the «logos» of Caucasian cultural genesis”; and “atypical nature of gender asymmetry in the ethnic cultures of the Caucasus and the phenomenon of gender inversion within these cultures.”Certain ideas of a general cultural and philosophical nature are also addressed.
