Higher legal education in the North Caucasus: to the history of the issue

Abstract. The article highlights issues related to higher professional and, in particular, legal education on the territory of the North Caucasus Federal District. It is particularly emphasized that a huge number of branches of Moscow universities exist and successfully operate in the region on a budgetary and extra-budgetary basis. Great attention is paid to higher legal education in 7 regions of the district, each of which has its own law school. The existence of a huge number of universities providing a variety of legal educational services is due to the change in the socio-economic formation in the early 1990s, which led to increased interest in the legal sciences in general and the need for a huge number of highly qualified specialists in various branches of jurisprudence. Each region of the North Caucasus Federal District is considered, the peculiarities of legal education in each of them arc noted.
