Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the most numerous verbal and comparative phraseological expressions in the Kabardino-Circassian language. These groups of PEs were chosen not only because they constitute a significant group of phraseological richness of the language, but also because of their vivid distinctive features both in terms of lexical composition and grammatical behaviour.
Any problem concerning these or other aspects of phraseological phrases is topical for Adyghe linguistics, because this direction remains one of the most studied so far. We have set ourselves the task of giving a more extensive and comprehensive idea of its two categories, which, unlike others, are more clearly defined in the existing publications on this subject, which include our own. When defining the category of FEs, we proceed from the most reliable and logical position, according to which an FE belongs to the one with which it is comparable in its lexico-semantic, morphological and syntactic features, in other words, to which part of speech it corresponds. This applies to verbal PEs, which can be replaced by individual verbs in speech. Comparative PEs, as a rule, fulfil the function of adjectives. The article consists of two sections, in which the mentioned FE categories are investigated accordingly. To identify the specifics of these varieties of PEs, the comparative method was mainly used, documented samples of PEs used in folklore texts and in the works of fiction by Kabardino-Circassian writers are given as illustrations. The analysis made it possible, firstly, to clearly distinguish phraseological phrases from free word combinations and individual words, and secondly, to demonstrate those aspects that bring them closer to specific words.
