Etiquette, ethics or local civilization? – to the essence and name of the traditional socio-cultural life of the Circassians/Caucasians

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the key problems of a number of social sciences and humanities: ethnology, ethno-culturology and regional historiography – the methodology for identifying and identifying local (sub-local) civilizations in cultural and historical areas. It is argued that there is a local civilization in the North Caucasian area that has developed in the processes of the genesis of ethnic groups and cultures of this area, their close long-term interaction and mutual influence. The basic foundation of this civilization is a special type of socio-cultural communication, which is distinguished by activity, openness, a high level of algorithmization of the participants’ actions and saturation with non-verbal and syncretic forms of culture. The legitimacy of calling this type of local civilization lectonic is substantiated – «Caucasian lectonic civilization».
