Bearers of Circassian intangible cultural heritage:
structure, motivation and problems
(based on the example of mastersof the Circassian villages of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic)

Abstract. The author conducted a comprehensive analysis of the current status of traditional culture bearers in the Circassian villages of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. The primary data collection method utilized a survey aimed at identifying the socio-demographic structure of heritage bearers and analyzing their motivation to preserve cultural experience. The study classified bearers into key categories, such as demographic characteristics and areas of expertise. The author specifically highlights motivational factors and key barriers hindering the effective transmission of heritage to future generations. It is concluded that the carriers are aware of the value of their ethnocultural heritage and are interested in participating in the creation of the catalog.
